Tax Preparer

Bakewell & Mulhare LLC, an established public accounting firm in New Milford, CT, is seeking a full-time or part-time tax preparer. We are looking for an individual who is organized, a team player, and a strategic thinker. The individual must have the ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and communicate effectively. The core responsibilities for this position are:

  • Preparation of individual (1040) and business tax returns (1120, 1120s, 1065, 990)
  • Assisting bookkeepers with year-end tax closing and tax-related questions
  • Client outreach to gather information and follow up on the status of upcoming tax deadlines.
  • Conduct research related to current tax law and new legislation
  • Communicating with clients on tax-related matters
  • Quarterly tax estimates and year-end tax planning

Qualifications for Tax Preparer:

  • 2-3 years of individual & business tax preparation experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Experience in public accounting firm a plus
  • EA/CPA is a plus

Senior QuickBooks Expert

Bakewell & Mulhare LLC, an established public accounting firm in New Milford, CT, is seeking a full-time or part-time QuickBooks expert. We are looking for an individual who is organized, a team player, and a strategic thinker. The individual must have the ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and communicate effectively. We provide competitive compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain accounting records and general ledger for all assigned accounts
  • Perform daily functions such as entering deposits, credit card charges, and applicable daily sales entries
  • Perform reconciliations on all balance sheet items including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, liabilities, and capital accounts.

Requirements:

  • Must have a high degree of knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Good written and oral communication skills are required. Able to work effectively, pleasantly, and professionally with supervisors, colleagues, and clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is a must. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Dependable, self-starter, and motivated.
  • The ability to prepare sales tax and payroll tax returns is a plus.
